In most cases it really wont matter. Vet schools have a list of courses that are called pre requisites. Undergraduate course that they require to be completed at a certain level before you can apply.

Todd recommends the following next steps:

Find out what colleges the vet school will accept courses from, and as long as you are going to get as many hours as you will need for pre requisites, it is usually best to go ahead and fill out the remainder so that you get a degree vs only a bunch of courses that you needed for applying but no graduation.

A major in zoology, biology or animal science is a good background for vet school. Check the course requirements at the vet schools that you are applying to, and see which major most closely aligns with your top school choices.

No matter which science you pick for undergrad, you need stellar grades, relevant extracurricular activities, and paid or. volunteer work in a vet office or allied setting. It’s not the exact major that you pick. It’s the whole package.
