How many years of college does it take to be a registered nurse?

Hey Vanesa, in community college the average length of school for that program is about two years to receive your associates degree in nursing (ADN) and then most people do the bridge program at either a private school such as Grand Canyon University or a Cal State University to get their Bachelors (BSN). If you are graduating straight from high school and applying straight to a university it will take about 4 years to obtain your BSN. The best way I feel that is worth it is to go straight to a University, a lot of people who do the community college route after they graduate can run into some issues such as applying to BSN programs and waiting months on end to start.

An aspiring RN can earn a bachelor's of science in nursing (BSN) in four years at a college or university. If you're already an RN, you can enroll in an RN-to-BSN program which is geared specifically for RNs who have an associate's degree or nursing diploma. This path usually takes about two to three years.
