Hey An J. what an awesome and exciting career path you have selected! It really depends what type of movies you are looking into making. If you are looking to start with creating lets say short movies or videos - a more paratactical study will be really handy - like the Multi Media study. Multi Media study will offer you a broader experience and knowledge and you can later on choose from various of career paths, like film industry, animation, advertising, public relations, television broadcasting, news reporting and more.

On the other hand, "Film Production" Study is more narrow and specialising in the actual film production. Would be really helpful to enter into the film industry and film making business. However, will limit other career possibilities. If you are certain you would like to create movies that would be perfect for you. If you would like to study something broader and have the possibility for a different career Multi Media Study will be great a choice.

Here are couple of useful software skills you can gain in preparation for your studies:

A great start will be visiting Udemy that offers various of Free and Paid online studies and certifications: https://www.udemy.com/courses/search/?q=film%20making&src=sac&kw=film%20ma

Would love to hear how it goes and what you decide! If you have more question please feel free to reach out!

All the best and good luck,

Ana

Hi how are you doing? Independent where you will heading in the film industry , production skills are very, very useful. I.e. as a director you will sit in the in a studio for weeks , editing and cutting, of course with a tech. person ( cutter, editor,... ), but you will have to tell her/ him what to do.

So, I personally would want to study all the crafts first , to be able to be a cameraman(women ) in the first place and go further for management jobs as soon as you have some contacts etc.

Good luck and all the Best

Stephan

Hi An, in Film School you can find Film making and Digital Film making. There are common grounds between them, but it depends on your choice and skill set to determine which path would aggregate more value to you and where you would get a career perspective. You could also find summer camping useful to help you define better your goals and interest. On my side I’ve been to drama school as an actor later to find Cinematography was my area, as I rather be behind cameras. All related experience will help you accumulate knowledge and surely will help you define how you do things. Take a look at New York Film Academy and you can find more information in the different careers’ paths: https://www.nyfa.edu/programs/

Tip: Don’t focus to much on a school but chose the one that will facilitate the process for you. In the end your knowledge will be define by what you do after classes and how committed and interested you are.
