Hi Karen, this is a great question and an excellent field to consider as of 2019 the average salary for a construction manager was $95,260 per year. A construction manager should have a bachelor's degree, especially if you want to work for a large construction firm. Many construction firms will also provide on the job training to give you the additional management skills to effectively plan, coordinate, budget and supervise construction sites. You will need understanding of craft work, safety work, policy and procedures of your company and your client's. You will need to know about purchasing, quality control, local, state and federal regulations. You will need to speak and address hundreds, even thousands of people and have one on one conversations as well.

There are college degrees in construction management and project management.

Some companies have programs to help you work on site as you go to college.

If you can work in construction an dgo to college for project or construction management you have a good start.
