There’s a site called Skysthelimit.org in which entrepreneurs (at any stage of the process from just having an interest in an area to having a fully running business) are matched with volunteer mentors from all types of business backgrounds (other entrepreneurs, consultants, corporate leaders, etc.). You can start a profile pretty quickly!

I agree with “simply ask.” You must know someone already who can talk about your specific interests vs. your current skills. You need someone who will tell you the truth and who will give you practical advice on steps you can take now and in the future. A career counselor at school will be good at this as well. You can also look for career counselors offering their services in your community to get you started. For true mentoring, though, you need someone who has experience, who is interested in your development and who is willing to meet with you every few months to check in on your development.
Volunteer in your community and look for leaders there who seem to be who you would like to be in the future

I think it’s really important as you approach looking for a mentor, think about the skills, traits, and lessons etc. you want to gain by building a relationship with that individual. Make sure it’s someone you trust and feel comfortable with. Finally make sure it’s someone who going to give you “straight talk”, even things you may not want to hear. Once you’ve decided on the skill you want to build, it’s time to approach that individual and just ask! Be clear with what you want from the mentorship! Best of luck!

This is a great question. You can receive mentorship in many ways in business. Companies may have established programs available that you can join. There may be different employee resource groups that can help you find a mentor.
Perhaps you can start a mentor group if one doesn't exist. You can start with something as small as an e-mail to get a conversation started.
Another avenue to consider, is to reach out to someone that you admire their business acumen directly. People are generally receptive and willing to participate and help how they are able. This can and usually does lead to more mentors as you move forward in your career.

I would use LinkedIn. If you don't have one already, build a profile. This will be a very valuable tool for networking, finding jobs, etc. If you reach out to people directly some will be open to giving advise and possibly mentoring. Another tool is called Handshake, this is another networking tool for students.

It really does depend on what type of business you have. Here are a couple of suggestions and how to gain mentor-ship for your business.
There are many opportunities through the Chamber of commerce in your local area. While there is a small fee to be a member, if you actively work the resources they provide it will be worth it. This organization often host training and development sessions for their members where they bring experts from multiple entities to teach business owners. It could be accounting, marketing, leadership ect...There as session available almost weekly. The=is is also a good forum to find a mentor-ship opportunity.
Another option and probably simpler depending on where you are in your path is to find successful business owners in similar type of operations and ask for a chance to shadow and learn. Some may be reluctant to share so I would recommend someone you trust and have a established relationship with.
