I know I want to work in the pediatric field, but I don't know exactly I want to be. I do know I don't want to do any surgery.

I would suggest to:
FIRST, find out how you can earn 90-hour certification as a Child Daycare Provider. There may be classes available at your local community colleges or universities that offer them. These classes are not long at all. They will be either for a set of hours or a set of weeks, with a shadowing requirement to get 90-hours of time around kids.
SECOND, see if you can volunteer at a local daycare center (i.e. summer, once a weeks for a few hours) or in the Labor and Delivery area of your local hospital (i.e. Volunteer Services Department). OR look into random babysitting jobs you can do in your neighborhood or city (i.e. Craigslist).
NOTE: The purpose of needing to do the things above is to get the basics on dealing/interacting/caretaking with and for kids. Working with kids and taking care of kids is something you have to LOVE to do. Experience is the BEST teacher.
THIRD, research on requirements to being a Pediatric LPN and Pediatric RN. Those would be great long-term career options in Pediatrics.

There are Children Hospitals all over the country that need caring people to work at their facilities in a wide range of jobs that are not related to surgery. Nurses, educators, admin staff etc. are all needed at Children Hospitals so that when surgery does need to be done, the surgeons can focus on the procedure knowing that the staff has already taken care of everything else including the parents. Hi Annabel-
Being in the pediatric field can be one of many things: you could be a therapist, a nurse, a doctor or a medical assistant. Being a pediatrician does not involve doing surgery but it does require attending medical school and training after that. First step would be deciding if you want to be in the medical, nursing, or para-medical area. School and training are different for each one.
