Personally, I found joining a club in university was a big help, both mentally and physically. I played field hockey and in my first year, not knowing anyone, it introduced me to a wide variety of people, all with a common interest. Having a commitment in a team sport then ensured I kept training and keeping fit. Good luck!

One of the top things college will teach you is time management. It's hard to juggle school, social life, and sleep. SCHEDULE gym or exercise sessions into your daily or weekly routine. When you're busy things you don't write down with a time and place to get done tend not to get done. Three 45 min intense sessions a week will keep off the freshmen 15.

Develop a schedule that works for you. Consistency is key here because it helps to develop habits. Whether it's finding a time to work out each day (I always did a light workout starting at 9am, Mon-Fri, when my college gym opened), or simply parking the car further away and walking more. Keeping to a schedule means you're more likely to find time to cook your own food, eat less takeaways, and stay healthier.
It's often said that working out or planning with a friend/partner is good for keeping on track. This is perhaps one of those few times I would say the opposite may be true. Your class schedules are likely to be unique to you and it's worthwhile finding a schedule/routine that works really well for yourself.
Just like driving to school or home each day, after a while you don't think about the route; if you stick to a schedule it will soon become a habit and you won't even think about it.

I applaud your desire to stay fit during college! I believe it is critical to maintain a routine the best you can, like eating. People normally eat 3 meals a day. Make exercise part of your day. I like morning as I feel it starts my day off right. Evening is good too. I really enjoy bicycling and I ride 4-5 times per week for about 40-50 miles. I track my workout and goals and work on eating balanced nutritious food too. Fitness helps keep you mind alert and assists with good sleeping patterns. Cycling is something you can do with a group or by yourself. Try it out. All the best.
