What are good topics to talk about in college essays?

Your story matters! College essays like personal statements are just a way for colleges and universities to get to know you a little better. Just choose a topic in which you can articulate who you are in an authentic way. Being authentic is very important. Please see below for some possible topics:
1. If you know what you want to study in college, write about it. Was there an event in your that life inspired you to study that? Is there anything you are currently doing that aligns with your planned area of study?
2. Why do you want to attain higher education? Who are you doing it for and why?
3. What has been your life journey? What has shaped who you are?
4. Where do you see yourself 5 years out? 10 years out? And how will you get there?
The most important part of your essay is to clearly show who you are! Be authentic! And always answer "the why of the deepest why."

Hi Daniela! I agree with previous answers. Another topic could be an obstacle you had to overcome that made you a wiser and stronger person! It could be something with grades or a more personal experience; for example I struggled in math a lot but in high school I started doing much better and even got on honor roll. To me that was a very important obstacle I overcame which made me a stronger and even more perseverant individual! Lastly, college essay topics really structure around the applicant, so they can vary as long as it is honest and personal and does a good job at answering the question you should be good!

It's best to focus on stories that are unique to you and show off your personality and values. Try to be interesting and engaging with your story. Think about if you would enjoy reading your own story. Recruiters are reading through stacks of essays at a time, so any extra effort to not be generic is appreciated. Don't think you have to model the ideal student in every essay, especially considering that's what every other student in the the application process is trying to do.

3. What is the bravest thing you ever did? What inspired you to do it?
4. What is the most difficult choice/challenge you have faced and how did you handle it?
5.What is your dream for your future? How do you plan to achieve it?
6. If you could change one thing about the world, what would it be? How would you go about it?
