How to get an early start to become a physical therapist?

Hi my name is Nykiya. I'm an 11th grader. I love to help people when they need help. I'm a person who is very kind and loving. I like to be around people. One Interesting fact about me I was a very shy individual, but I got out of the comfort zone. My dream job is to become a physical therapist. #therapist #income

If your dream is to be a physical therapist, as an 11th grader, you should look up the pre-requisite college courses typically required for an application to PT School, which requires a 4 yr college degree. Then, make sure that the colleges you apply to offer the health/fitness-oriented classes that are typically required, like Anatomy, Kinesiology and Exercise Physiology. Other pre-requisites are easy to find at all colleges, like chemistry and physics. The most important qualification is something you already have - a love for people. Good luck!

Once you get to college, see the pre-PT advisor on campus (person who probably also advises pre-med and dental students as well)
In the summers after college, seek a job as a PT Aide, even if it's unpaid

Hi Nykiya! I would heavily recommend reaching out to local physical therapy clinics for shadowing opportunities! It gives you a great feel of what we do, and you can explore the different settings (outpatient, acute care, geriatrics, pediatrics, etc).
