Virtual Volunteering for Teens Interested in Healthcare

I was wondering what types of virtual volunteering opportunities would be available for high school students looking to contribute to, and gain experience in, healthcare? It seems both my age and virtual approach have limited my options, but I really want to help out somehow.

There is a good variety of volunteering that is available to do virtually, though much of it is very different from what you would do in an in-person setting. Some opportunities you can look into include:
American Red Cross
Crisis Hotline
United Nations
Missing Maps
Be My Eyes
FIMRC virtual volunteer experience
Translators Without Borders (if fluent in a second language)

These are just a few examples to get you started and give you some ideas. You could also reach out to local hospitals or organizations to see if they have any virtual or in-person volunteer opportunities. You can also search online for virtual volunteer opportunities. If you have any specific interests I recommend searching to see if you can find anything relating to your interests.
If you are interested in learning about different healthcare professions there are a variety of virtual shadowing opportunities available as well.

Volunteering is a great opportunity for the community, those in need, as well as expanding your experience in the health care industry. I would encourage you to research organizations in the health care realm and find a contact email or phone #. Aside from the normal charities, you may also want to reach out to hospitals in your community. While there are new restrictions on volunteering in person, hospitals may need virtual assistance or support. Last but not least, volunteermatch.org is a great source to find opportunities.
