How can I get recognized in the film industry?

Have a relationship with someone in the business. It's really hard to get into it if you don't have any connections. You could hire an agent who can scout interviews and may have other connections to opportunities.

Start working on sets as a Production Assistant. To learn from the Cinematographer pay attention to the Assistant Cameras or ask to be put as a camera PA if that is available. To learn from the Director, ask to be put on the Assistant Director or Production Office teams. Create your own work. Keep writing and workshopping scripts. Join writers groups or take online classes to workshop your pilots or shorts. Network, and make connections help others on their projects. Learn each of the crafts from books, online tutorials, listening to DVD commentaries, going to Filmmaking events like Women in Film. Find a mentor! Just reach out to someone you really admire.
