How do i find majors that correalate with ASL?
I'm a newly high school graduate and I'm purusing a career in ASL- American Sign Language as an interpreter(my college major is Deaf Studies). However, people keep on asking me what do i want to teach with the association with ASL because i want to teach it to people and right now, i don't really have an idea about it yet. #teaching #ASL #college-major

First Don't let people's questions and opinions pressure you or steer you in a direction you don't want to go. I would suggest that you google ASL jobs near me and then start to contact the people in charge (managers, directors, etc.) at the organizations that come up. You can do this by phone or email. Then introduce yourself, ask them if you can set up a time to speak with them (by phone email, zoom, etc.). When you get the appointment - tell them what you are currently doing and would like to do in the near future and ask them if they have any advice on what you should or can major in and how you can and should move forward with what you want to do in this field.

Don't overload it with search terms. I used advanced search options, and just entered "ASL interpreter" in the job title box, leaving everything else, including location, blank. oh , and i limited it to the last 15 days. You just sort of want to see what's out there.

When I worked at the state workforce office, if our clients needed an interpreter, there was an agency that provided them to us. I had never worked with an interpreter before, and it was a very positive experience. The client and I conversed directly, like the interpreter wasn't even there. Hi dear. I think it is so nice major. You can use it in field related to teaching. As teacher assistant for students in various schools especially in primary schools.
