I've always been interested in becoming an architect, but a lot of people on the internet has been saying that getting a degree in this field is the hardest degree a person could possibly get and that it wasn't as rewarding. Whether its salary, time, or the degree itself.

Two of my closest friends have architecture degrees. One of them never could find a job and started a 3d printing business. The other one also could not get a job in the field, so he started his own architecture firm and spent years building it into a successful firm. It is a challenge, but if it's what you want then plan now and network now on what steps you need to successfully get employment. You may have a better chance with an industrial design degree if you're worried about finances.

Hey Mahmoud,

Hope you are doing well.

I believe that we should not only choose a career for the amount of money it yields. Money will be the bi-product.
You should absolutely give your 150% on what interests you. But, if finance is your concern, you should start reading on topics like entrepreneurship, finance and economy on the side. Which will help you to monetize whatever you are specializing in.

Right now, at this age, do not make money your primary goal. Set a goal to master in what you really love, and are passionate about. Some of the wealthiest people in todays world are people who design master piece and sell it millions of dollar. Also, think about the power you would have. On your free time, you could design a hospital, super cool schools, rehabilitation centers for disables, design urban cities, and many more.
And the satisfaction that you would get while helping some, you can never buy that with money.

HI. My nephew graduated with an Architect Degree from the Univerity of Texas (he was from NY). It was hard for him to find a job in his field, but he managed to take his love of creating and work with a furniture / sculpture builder who specialized in art for corporate structures. He since has his designs and work in various lobbies around the US. He also is albe to create his own art, has his own art shows based on what he learned while pursuing his degree in Architecture. I would propose that you pursue the architect degree but think about adding in a minor as well that would help you to differentiate yourself. Industrial design is a great one although it will take committment on your part. Good luck with whatever you pursue. It's good that you are trying to be pragmatic so that you can secure your future!
