Inquiry about Ba in Psycology and Ba in English ??

Heyy there !
I want to know what is the best course and which course will have great scope in future ..
which course have opportunities towards MA in mass communication ??

Help me here please !

They have experience dealing with other students and see the patterns of degrees and the shift in the student world to advise you better. Most of this will have to deal with what you want to learn and how you want to apply yourself. Your advisor will also be able to tell you about trends in certain backgrounds and studies. There are a few key differences between a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Bachelor of Arts in English that may help guide your decision. Hi Kosha,

I see you are based in India, so I’ll preface this by suggesting that you look into how Communications MA programs differ in India vs the US.

Speaking for the US/Canada, you WOULD be prepared for an MA in Communications program if you double-majored in English and Psychology. However, it is not necessary to double major in order to be prepared (unless you really want to take both of those courses!) Here, most colleges have bachelors degree programs where you can earn a BA in Communications (or journalism, broadcasting, media studies, or something else similar.) That would be the most efficient route — you’d be completing only 1 degree program, and it would be in Communications itself!

Just a note: here in the US, Masters programs especially in the liberal arts will readily accept students from different academic backgrounds. Sometimes relevant work/internships are more valued by those programs.

As always, check the requirements for the MA programs you’re interested in, because some programs might have requirements that others do not.

It really depends on what you want to pursue as far as a career path. If you're looking to go into counseling or related psychology field, then pursue that major. If you're looking more for communications, then English but you should only major in that if you plan on doing something related to teaching English or writing

As a communications professional, I'd suggest you consider pursuing a Communications or Marketing Degree and you can add any English or Psychology courses along the way. But either of these majors would be good options as you carve out your career path. Hope that helps!

Hi Kosha,

I suggest first rethinking the subject of interest. If you are interested in Mass Communication, then you can pursue a BA English Literature or BA in Communicative English course for your graduation. But it is not mandatory to do a graduate program in English. You will be eligible for Mass communications program even if you take up other graduation subjects. But this entirely depends on the university you are planning to apply.
As you are also interested in psychology also look for interdisciplinary programs.

Regarding scope in the future, both psychology and mass communication programs offer good scope to build a good career. Go by your interest and choose the subject. The career streams are entirely different for these programs.
