What is the career ladder for this position?

I was wondering if you have to have your CNA before you try to receive your LPN or RN.

You don’t have to become a CNA before becoming a LPN or a RN, however, it is super helpful in building skills and seeing if you really like the field before getting into it.

No you don’t have to be a CNA before becoming a nurse or starting nursing school. However, it is a great way to see and understand the nursing field.

As said in prior posts you do not need to be a can before you become a nurse but it is a great way to start to learn basics like vital signs, skin care keeping patient 's skin intact. You also learn the speed at which nurses work. It may also be easier for you to get a job where you work as a cna.

Alexis is correct, you do not need to be a CNA before you become a LPN. I was not a CNA and had no experience in healthcare prior to nursing school, other than volunteering to care for an elderly couple who was close to my family. When I went to nursing school, my professors and preceptors all said they’d prefer a student with no experience, because they can train them properly without bad habits forming from working in the field without proper training. I won’t say that it’s easier for the student not having prior experience, but I did do well in both in class learning and in clinical with a lot of studying.
