How do I get repeat clients and get me on venues refer list as a DJ?

Our generation has such easy access to social media, and there has never been an easier way to share your talents with millions of people through the tap of a button. Always maintain a fun but professional social media presence and reputation, stay current with music and posts and involve the audience. Allow them to submit music requests! Create a name for yourself and an experience that your audience will remember and can easily recall. Read about the success stories of other DJs and what they did or had to persevere through before their success. Watch videos of their stories and advice because they will be the most organic and true source of guidance. To get your name out there, recognize that with almost all professions, you may have to start small and work your way up. Offer to perform at festivals, school events, etc, and use those learning experiences to your advantage!

Have you considered making up a business -type card or flier that you could distribute to places like local music stores or bulletin boards in grocery stores? You might consider providing a statement on these notices that references are available upon request, if you have them. Sometimes the best way to get business is by word of mouth.

I know this sounds like an obvious answer but be amazing at what you do. Be easy to deal with. Remember the DJ job at the entry level is about the audience not about you. So think about the audience every gig you do and make it the best experience you can for them. It is much more important that you are professional, punctual and appropriate for the gig than that you have the best or flashiest set up.

Also, go see other DJ's. See what they do. read DJ blogs. Read music industry sites pertaining to DJ type artists.

Have fun! Enjoy what you do, or change what you are not enjoying so you will have more fun. Eventually you will be able to choose the types of gigs you do.

When I am looking for an entrepreneur providing services, I am often guided by the opinions of others on the web. It seems to me that setting up your own website in social media, adding content there and collecting customer feedback, will be a good form of advertising.Be professional and show your services there. Additionally you can start working in clubs or concerts for free to build a network of contacts and gain positive comments on social media.
