Jobs for working with livestock?

I am really interested in working with livestock but don't really know what job would be best for that. I know there is farming/ranching and livestock vets. Besides that, I do not know what career I could do with them.

I raise bottle calves and I have cow and calves . It is very tough starting off in this business but there are a lot of government grants out there to help you get started. My mistake when I was young no one told me about grants

Chinonyerem’s Answer

Hi Emma,

I am a Veterinarian and my job is basically treating animals.

Now other professionals that handle livestock include:
1. Animal scientist
2. Animal handlers/trainers/groomers.
3. Veterinary Nurses and assistants
4. Veterinary Technicians
5. Biomedical scientists or Life scientists.
6. Animal nutritionists.
7. Zoologists.

You can earn a decent living and do a lot of good for the environment, animals and humans in any of the aforementioned field.

To know the career to delve into, ask yourself the following:
1. Why you want to deal with animals
2. In what’s capacity you want to deal with animals
3. What kind of animals you’d like to work with.
4. How long you can shell out to acquire training/certification/licensing to become a professional at the field you chose
5. Cost of pursing said career path.

These will guide your decision as to what livestock career to pursue.

Goodluck!
