How do I start taking my studies more seriously ?

. It takes me all night to study and I'm easily distracted. I want to finish my homework and do my studies in the same night, but I always end up doing just one of those things that night.

Dear Yasmine,

If you are easily distracted you must find a space in your environment where you can limit those distractions. If it is too noisy at your place, go to the library earlier in the day and get some of your work done there. You can also break big assignments into smaller pieces and tackle one piece at a time. Get yourself organized before you start your homework by creating a to-do list. Perhaps you don’t have to do all your homework at night and possibly find an hour or so during the afternoon to accomplish some of your workload. Hope this helps and have a great day.

Just keep at it. Plan your evening/day. Task lists are very helpful in organizing your studies. Prioritize and "schedule" your time accordingly. Then stick to that schedule. If you lay it out in front of you, it becomes easier to knock things down one task at a time. Don't give up! Getting organized and getting rid of the clutter in your head will help you maintain a good rhythm and find the time to fit it all in.

Try to think about your future when you will need to support yourself. The more you study now and do well in school the greater likelihood you will be successful in the future -- and you have a lot of years ahead of you to enjoy.
