Timing is everything and it's a fantastic opportunity for you! Even if the store isn't hiring at the moment, boldly step in and express your enthusiasm for any future vacancies. Network with the manager and workers there, charm them with your personality and eagerness to be a part of their team. This will definitely make them remember you.

Be proactive and research their company online, diving headfirst into their products/services, embracing their goals and values. This will show them that you're not only well-informed, but also eager to align yourself with their establishment. When you meet with them again, your preparation and familiarity with the company will surely make a lasting impression!

Remember, every effort you make counts and brings you closer to your goal. And who knows, your enthusiasm and sincerity might just make them consider creating a position for someone as dedicated and passionate as you!

Chris’s Answer

Hi Patty! Great question. If you're able to, I recommend going into the store in-person to talk to the manager to ask about positions. Even if they are not hiring at that specific location, they may have openings at other locations. If you talk to someone in person, make sure you are wearing clean, professional attire. Be positive and friendly. Express interest and passion in the job and company itself. Research the store a bit ahead of time and have some specific examples to bring up about something cool you learned or why you want to work there specifically. Have a resume ready to email. Even if the manager doesn't have positions open at the time, sending them your resume ahead of time may put you further up in line when a position does open up.

Hello Patty! I was in the exact position you were in, so don't stress! When it came time to my first job at a restaurant, I remember being super nervous and eager to make a positive impression.

My biggest advice is to be bold and outgoing to get what you want. Make a good impression! I recommend:
1) Emailing the job your resume, cover letter, and personal statement expressing interest
2) Visiting the job site. Provide a physical resume
3) Make them remember your name!

I wish you best of luck!

Check the store's website or social media pages for any job postings or career opportunities. Many companies now post their job openings online.

Visit the store in person and ask to speak with a manager. Introduce yourself and ask if they are currently hiring or if they have any upcoming job openings. If they are not currently hiring, ask if you can leave your resume or contact information for future reference.

Network with employees or customers who may have information about job openings or can refer you to a hiring manager.

Send a letter of interest or inquiry to the store's management, expressing your interest in working for the company and asking if there are any job opportunities available.

Remember to always be professional and courteous when inquiring about job opportunities, whether it's in person or through a letter. Good luck with your job search!

Daniel’s Answer

Hi Patty!

I would go into the store and see if you can hand a manager your resume. Sometimes stores may not have help wanted signs but you can always check online to see if they have any job openings. If no openings are on their website then I would inquire in the store to see if they have any job openings.

Sometimes stores do not make it clear they are hiring. My advise to you is if you are able to talk to a manager tell them why you want this job and ask if you can schedule an interview. You want to be persistent but not overbearing.

Good luck on the job journey!

I suggest asking the store manager, as the other post mentions. Sometimes a store may not be hiring at the moment but will be for seasonal times such as the holidays. They will let you know. You can also check on their social media site in addition to their website. You could send an email asking about hiring too. It never hurts to ask and you may be surprised by the answer...YES we are hiring!
