Fabiane’s Answer

Hi, Seth!

I have worked in the accounting field for nearly four years. In my experience, it demands meticulous attention to detail, proficiency with numbers, and adeptness in public interaction. It can often be characterized by bureaucratic tasks and monotony.

If you're considering entering this field, starting as a Bookkeeper can provide valuable insight into the profession. There are several free online courses available that can give you a taste of what to expect.

Venturing into self-employment as an accountant can be rewarding yet challenging. Alternatively, opportunities abound in both public and private sectors.

Before committing to a degree in accounting, I recommend watching videos depicting the daily routines of accountants to gain a better understanding of the profession.

Wishing you the best of luck!

Hello, Seth !

As a student it is wonderful that you are exploring a possible career as an Accountant ! I would first like to mention that to stay aware of this field, you can read Accounting Today and I have left a link below to their website which is very informative. I would advise checking this website for information twice a week so you can keep up with information about the profession.

The Content Snare Blog has information about trends and the future of accounting. This may be a worthwhile read and able to answer your question. I have left a link for it below as well as other links to interesting information.

From my observation of accountants that I know and for a bit of hopeful sunshine, I would like to say that the accountants that I know have been working strongly for over 20 years. They work in person, on site, have not lost their jobs and it seems as though an accounting career is quite stable and satisfying for those who go into it. It may not be that way all around the world, but just by my personal observation, the field looks good. For Pennsylvania, the jobs for accountants are supposed to increase 7.1% by 2030. So that looks great.

You can easily explore your local accounting community by doing a search for extra information on the internet.

I hope that this was useful and I wish you all the best in all you do !
