Learning web development allows you to contribute to and leverage these innovations, whether it's in areas like progressive web apps (PWAs), real-time communication, or augmented reality (AR) experiences on the web.

6. **Entrepreneurial Opportunities**: With the democratization of technology and the availability of various tools and resources, aspiring entrepreneurs can create and launch web-based startups with relatively low barriers to entry. Learning web development empowers you to turn your ideas into reality and build scalable web-based products and services.

7. **Continuous Learning and Growth**: Web development is a field that rewards continuous learning and growth. There's always something new to explore, whether it's mastering a new programming language, diving into a new framework, or refining your skills in user experience (UX) design and accessibility.

In conclusion, learning web development in 2024 remains a valuable investment of your time and effort, offering a pathway to diverse career opportunities, the ability to contribute to innovation in web technologies, and the potential for entrepreneurial endeavors in the digital space.

Hi Anita!

This is a great question! It does feel like with all of the new software and companies coming out that can build websites for you, it feels like it is a dying field. However, there will always be a need for people know and understand what is going on underneath the visual aspect of a website and how to make changes if needed.

For example, I am an accessibility consultant and I help companies fix their websites to be more accessible for people who have disabilities. This field is a great example of the need to understand web development and how websites are built under the user design. A lot of how sites are built with these automatic tools do not take into account what is needed to make a site accessible for different disabilities and may get companies into trouble with lawsuits because they must follow the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines. My job is to look under the hood at their code to see how that code could be fixed to make the website work with assistive technology. I then give my recommendations to that company so that they can make those fixes.

There are many jobs like this that make looking into the web development field very important. Take the time to do some research to see what you might find interesting and can be passionate about.
