Christina’s Answer

There are multiple avenues to take with your meteorology degree. Broadcasting and working on TV is the most well known. There are jobs at the National Weather Service through the government as mentioned in a previous answer. There are jobs in the private sector as well such as working as a Marine Meteorologist for a shipping company, An Aviation Meteorologist working for a specific airline or a private aviation company taking care of multiple clients, forecasting for sports teams/stadiums or amusement parks, energy companies need meteorologists as well, you can go into planetary meteorology and study weather on other planets. There are so many options!

Tom’s Answer

Correct. There are so many non-broadcast meteorology jobs out there. There are many in the government (The National Weather Service, NOAA, National Hurricane Center, Storm Prediction Center...). Also airlines and energy companies hire meteorologists. The film industry can at times too.
There are a host of private meteorology companies out there as well. Broadcast is just one branch of a large tree.
