I like to use computers and i would like to learn how to animate digitally how schools might be good for me

I would like to better learn how to animate or 2d or 3d digitally what might be some good schools

Thank you comment icon There are tons of free resources online to get your feet wet with animation. YouTube has tons of free tutorials using various pieces of software from Blender to Unreal/Unity and even After Effects. Geoffrey Goldberg
Thank you comment icon I would say to do some hard research into schools. You could go to a big name school such as full sail university, or go to a more local cheaper school and sit down and perfect your craft. Patrick Kelly

Honestly, before you dive into school & make that commitment yoiu should start small & see if it actually interests you; i would advise you to do some learning from home on your computer. for instance i would jump on Youtube & search up "3D animating for beginners " & start there. you can get trial programs from Adobe or even look up free to use animating programs. The key to starting a hobby or profession is to start SMALL, one step at a time & learn to master each hting one by one & have fun with it so you dont get stressed out about the bigger picture. hope this helps kid!

As advised you should take a Digital Animation intro course offered for High School students. Look into online options such as https://www.theanimcourse.com/ , https://animationgroup.org/animation-classes-colorado-springs/ . Also look into local options offered in your area.

If your interest leads you to doing an BS in this area, consider the schools that offer a BS in Game Design Specialization. Some of the top schools with Game Design BS are Carnegie Mellon, University of Southern California, University of Utah.

Hi Dylan, There's so much you can do with that knowledge! Are you in school now? If so, find out if your school has a license to Adobe Creative Cloud. I'm a big fan of Udemy too and they have many online courses on how to use Adobe creative products. Here's just two of many: https://www.udemy.com/course/adobe-creative-cloud-2020-master-course/ and https://www.udemy.com/course/learn-to-animate-design-earn-up-to-100-per-hour/. You can get your feet wet for very little money. You'll also learn what you love and what you don't love. Then come up with a plan to develop further what you love. People will gladly help you do that. Please reply if you have *any* questions. I'm happy to help in any way.

Darrell’s Answer

It is awesome that you want to learn about digital animation. Do not feel pressured to go to a specialized school as a lot of what you learn can be self-taught through online videos and documentation and other materials. A great place to start is practicing in your free time. You can search Google and Youtube for videos and articles on free tools for digital animation. Start practicing as soon as possible and you can build your skills for the future. If you chose to go to a college the best thing is to find one you can afford. It is never worth going into a lot of debt trying to get into a specific school. Find a college accessible and affordable. Once you feel more confident in your abilities you can start helping on any project you can find in your community or on campus. Be sure to join a club in filmmaking or something similar or volunteer to do animations for events in your community. Even if you create animations for yourself or on social media always keep creating. You don't get better unless you are working on it constantly.

Darrell recommends the following next steps:

Search Youtube for tutorials on digital animation
Practice the basics as much as possible and get a decent understanding of the tools
