What is the job demand for a speech pathology degree?

If I obtain a degree in speech-language-pathology, what are the job demands for this field of study? #speech-language-pathology #college-jobs #speech-pathology #psychology

Thank you comment icon Hi Lainey, great question! According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of speech-language pathologists is projected to grow 18 percent from 2016 to 2026, much faster than the average for all occupations. About 25,900 new speech pathology jobs are expected to open up during that time as well. I hope this helps and I wish you the best! Mireia
Thank you comment icon Dear Lainey, I study Speech Pathology and Audiology as an undergraduate student. I am a senior and from what I have heard from my professors and what I have researched it is a great career to go into. It is very rewarding, flexible, and you get to help people. The job security is really high in hospitals and schools. If it is something that you are passionate about go for it! Christi
Thank you comment icon The demand is really high. Im currently a student going through the program. You have to really want this degree because you cannot work in the field without a masters degree and the classes are pretty tough. Lots of information in a small amount of time. However they do all build off of each other. I personally find anything to do with audiology as an undergrad very difficult. Lauren

Depending on where you live in American the demand for this degree changes. Just like people will always need doctors, people will always need Speech Pathologists. The Bureau of Labor Statistics has a great page called the Occupational Outlook Handbook that lets you know a bunch of great information about all sorts of careers.

Ella recommends the following next steps:
