Alyssa,

Congratulations on progressing your education! For my business management program, the multiple facets of business are explored, such as accounting, finance, interpersonal communication, business strategy, etc. This type of major gives you a generalized understanding of business functions, without diving too deep in special business functions. I recommend that once you start your program, be open to the different the facets within business as a whole, as well as to the idea of choosing to focus on one specific aspect of business, rather than a more generalized approach. You might find out that you have an interest in, as an example, marketing, or contract negotiation and decide you want to pursue this type of specialized learning.

Best of luck to you in the coming year!

The general Business Management major is often followed up with a specialized master's degree, law school, or other professional field where general business knowledge is useful.

Congrats! Taking on a business degree is a great decision as you will be qualified for many different types of Jobs. I originally planned to major in advertising communications and changed my major to Business Marketing, which ended up being a great decision as I also got an immersed education in all areas of business in addition to my focus in marketing/advertising. One thing to note, even if you do decide to major in a specific area of business (i.e. Finance, management, marketing) you will need to take pre-requisites that may not be of interest to you or are quite challenging (such as math classes), but it's well worth it.
