Will a 2-year degree limit me in the culinary arts field?

I've decided to major in culinary arts at a 2 year school. I know trade-like programs are often 2 years long and fare well, but culinary arts seems to go both ways, 2 years or 4. Here in Maine, there simply aren't any 4 year culinary arts programs, although I've considered transferring to a nutrition program after the 2 years if my credits will even transfer. I know I'll need experience after graduating, but considering these factors, will I be at any disadvantage as a possible chef/baker in Maine? #culinary-arts #college #chef #communitycollege #cooking

If you spend that 2 years working as a bakers/pastry assistant, you are likely to have more applicable skills for future work. Depending on how prestigious the school is, it can help get your foot in the door. I would suggest getting an online nutritionist certificate while you apprentice. The more work you put in the more you'll get out of it. Whichever path you choose, good luck!

Max recommends the following next steps:

Apprentice at a bakery you love
Get an online nutritionist certification
Find clients you can teach to eat healthier.
Learn to bake healthy and cross promote with nutrition programs you create.

No though you will start out lower. My brother has a degree from the French culinary institute and is now an executive chief. You will need to work hard in this field with any degree that you get but it's a great field.
