Hi Markus,
I like my job as a tax advisor very much. I like it for 3 reasons. First, it is rewarding. I feel like I am always helping my clients to achieve their goals and do things efficiently. That is a wonderful feeling. Second, it is challenging. I learn new things every day and as tax legislation changes, I know I will be learning more. Third, but probably most important of all, I work with very smart and motivated people who help me do my best and grow.
I think the best part of any job is the team you work with and how you can build a good and productive atmosphere to achieve goals. Even when a task may seem boring or when very complex questions arise, working with a good team will always bring good results.

One of the things that's important in 'liking' your job is having job satisfaction; this is different than job security. Job satisfaction for me this means enjoying what and do and who I work with. I am in mortgage banking and my company works towards affordable housing options for consumers, where people live. Taking care of communities and people is important to everyone and the generations to come.
You mention wanting to become a welder, if this makes you happy, follow your dream. You might look into doing an apprenticeship or internship to ensure that this is something you truly want to do long term. If you have other interest do the same, this will help you determine your long term career goals.

There are definitely a lot of different aspects to "liking your job" which seem to evolve as you develop into your career. It is important to consider several aspects: Do you like what your company stands for? Do they stand for the same beliefs that you do whether it is BLM, LGBT rights, climate change? Does the culture of the company match what you are looking for, open-door policy, raises based on merit, developmental opportunities?
I often use the test to evaluate my job: Do I look forward to getting out of bed to go to work or not?
If the answer is no, it's never too late to find something new that you do like!

Yes, helping out future leaders such as you and others to be prepared from Higher Education, Vocational and etc to have a game plan. In life, time goes by quick and not having a career plan can hurt since the type of careers can not be open while working on it now helps down to a better future.
