I took an massive open online course, and passed. How do I put it on my resume?

Hi! My name is Anina and I'm a high school senior interning at Career Village. I've taken a few courses on Coursera before, but I don't know how to put them on my resume. Do I list Coursera or the university as the course provider, for example. Do I even put it in the education section? Should I even list it at all if I didn't pay the money for a course certificate, and only audited (there are some I paid for, and some that I didn't)?

Hi Anina,


You can put them under the "Education Section." For example, you might write it like this (assuming the MOOCs you've taken are from universities):


High School Diploma with Honors, May 2016
ABC High School, New York, NY
- GPA: 99%
- Notable Coursework: AP Biology, AP History


College-Level Coursework
- "Introduction to Psychology" with Professor Smith, HarvardX (April 2016)
- "Development Economics Certificate" with Professor Hensworth, Stanford Extension (December 2015)


As you progress in your career, you can list MOOCs under "Professional Development." Likely at the end of college or afterwards.


As for distinguishing between paid and unpaid courses, you can list "Certificate" vs. pure course name as I did in the example above.
