I am looking for internship or volunteering opportunities.

I am an enthusiast for new experiences and peculiar corners of the world. I believe through different points of view or just knowing different stakeholders of the world, I will learn to look at the society or even the world with better insight. That will in turn equip me further for a more comprehensive and mature outlook for what I can expect from the world. #internship #summer-jobs #volunteer

Hi Pak,

I love that you are thinking ahead to this summer and how you might spend your time! My recommendation would be to narrow down your career interests are and then look for companies in your area that might have internship opportunities. Given everything that is going on in the world, you may also consider virtual opportunities. There are likely online volunteer opportunities as well. Good luck!

Hi Pak,

I think the best place to start would be looking around locally. Are there any neighbors or family friends that run a small business in town? Is there a company you frequent around the area that you know could use some help? There are a lot of interesting opportunities out there without a formal "job posting" like you would see on LinkedIn. It never hurts to stop by a local shop and ask if they would be willing to take you for the summer! Of course, this will likely be an unpaid internship, but can lead to great experiences along the way!

Another option would be to look on a job site (LinkedIn, Indeed, etc.) to find some local listings of more formalized opportunities. This option has the added benefit of a more structured program than a local business that has not ever had an "intern".

I would reach out to your teachers and see if they know of any internships or work opportunities. Check the websites of companies that you'd like to work for someday and send inquiry emails. Even if a company doesn't know of an internship, they might know of other companies that do offer internships. If you can't find a summer internship, you could also try working at a summer camp. You'll make a lot of new friends and you can often leverage new connections to find job/internship opportunities.

There are many ways to get connected for internship and job opportunities, such as joining internet profiles that allow you to get your resume out virtually for employers to view on spot. This will help put your name into the system and put your foot in the door.

I would also look for skills or qualities you have that may help you start a career path that you can enjoy. If you're an enthusiast and always looking for new things to do I would volunteer at a local shelter or crisis centers.

What an exciting time for you! I think you should look to narrow down your search as casting too wide a net may feel overwhelming with all the opportunities out there.

Here's what I recommend:

- Figure out what drives you and how that can be translated into an entry-level role or internship at a company
- Tap into your school's alumni network via your career center or via LinkedIn - I am always happy when undergrads reach out for career advice

Depending on the industry you are looking to get into, there may be career fairs for internship programmes. I think your attitude is spot on, it is good to get as much experience from anywhere in the work force early on - volunteering or research etc. This shows potential employers you are keen to obtain experience and also may have developed soft skills. This will also improve your chances of obtaining internships and jobs of your choice later on.
