If you were to complete medical school all over again, would you stay with the field you're in now or would you choose a different concentration?
I'm a high school student looking to go into neurology, and I wanted to know about the different options and pathways that exist in medical school. #doctor #medicine #neuroscience

Hi, yes I would stay with my field which is Internal Medicine (general medicine for age 18 years and older). I was a Nurse prior so I kind of knew what I like and preferred. I did consider doing some Fellowships which further specialize you by organ system or area (like Anesthesia, Cardiology , etc) and I thought about it but did not have the support to hep with my kids .. I am very happy with what I chose.

Radiology is an exciting and dynamic field. For me personally, the procedures are the most exciting. For example, we recently introduced Y-90 radioembolization at our hospital. This provides a new opportunity to treat liver cancers and prolong lives.

Many of my colleagues, myself included, enter medical school with some idea of what specialty we wanted to pursue in medicine. Over the course of a medical education one matures as an individual and is exposed to many different and previously unknown opportunities the profession of medicine has to offer. The practice of medicine itself changes over time due largely to technological advances, as well as social and governmental policies. I feel my choice of medical specialty, anesthesiology, best fit my professional interests, innate skills set, and desired life style. Simply put, your professional goals and specialty preference will evolve during your medical education process.
