Hi Kassi:

In answering your current question, please see the previous post I answered for you on becoming a famous painter. . . To continue the dialogue, my nieces had sketch pads that they built upon. They didn't have a specific technique, style (ie, swipe, dots, stokes,) or version. They went freehand doing whatever came to mind and often visually. If you want to get formalize then I suggest taking a course to learn the art of painting. You can do it!

Best of luck to you!

My personal opinion in approach to art is definitely not.!!!!!! While it would be a great idea just to have some idea of the different types of mediums and techniques used, I would definitely say that the beauty of art is being able to take something and make it your own in a way that you are comfortable with. For example, some artists swear by certain paints or brushes or stroke techniques or even using other objects to help create that look they are known for. Some artists paint in stroke technique while others may use a dot and swipe as their technique and while it would be great to see some of the different forms and at least know the names, art is personal and what each artist makes it. Another great example would be a paint party. You take ten people, put them all in a room, give them the same thing to paint, and you are going to get ten different versions. That is because what technique works for one may not for someone else. My best advice for this would be to just at least look up different techniques but at the same time go with what works for you

I don't think so, over time you will find a way of painting that works for you. I don't think I have a special way of painting, as it just comes. Your technique is your own. Your style is what makes the work, what you learn can improve it. There are different types of paints, acrylics, oils, water color, all have different techniques to use them. It's what you do with them that allows your skill to show through.

Cuxan’s Answer

Learn many painting technics. Be bold and quick, but also be soft and gently depending on your work of art. Look at different works of art from different painters and study them. Take painting classes at your local community college, which will challenge you with different projects. Over all just paint, and have fun with it. Things like technique comes later.
