Ahmad,

I am not a clinical nurse specialist. However, I thought I would answer and I hope it helps.
What I would say is this: As a clinical nurse specialist, you are part of a team of healthcare professionals with a common goal. That is to help patients. They come (or are sent) to us because they need help. Be prepared to help in any way possible. Know your stuff, or at least as much as you can to be able to deliver standard of care. If not, always have a means of finding out what the standard is. One of my favorite lines is, "if I can't help you, I will make sure to get you to someone who can".
The best outcome for each patient is the task at hand. Sometimes it is not a diagnosis, or even a treatment. Sometimes it is a "kind word". I have seen where that was more effective than any medication or treatment.

The other thing I would include is this: never forget the family ("loved ones"). They deserve to understand too. They need to be able to support their family member through the illness. "It takes a village." Just like it does here.

Well usually goals are more so personal versus profession based. Now depending on where you work as a clinical nurse specialist you guys as a company could have goals for your clientele as a whole but if you are looking for a idea to go off of one goal you could have in this profession is to make sure you keep up on certain medical laws and updates such as when important books are updated that you may have used in school, you can obtain them to keep your information fresh or you can look at your day to day schedule for a week and your goal could be a way to make your shift easier or a more efficient way to handle client interactions especially depending on the emotion the client is experiencing.

Basically goals are depend upon your place of work as every company has its own goals . But important and basic goals as Clinical nurse specialists is to provide direct patient care, serve as expert consultants for nursing staffs and take an active role in improving health care delivery systems. Clinical nurse specialists often work in management positions and may also develop or work with a team to develop policies and procedures.
