How do I make money while traveling?

I would love to travel the world, visiting as many different places as I can, but I have no idea how to make money while doing so

Hi Ani,

So from my friends and cousin that have travelled for many months or years at a time they have had jobs such as language teacher, bar work, working in a coffee shop. If you are in a bigger city then there may be some office work available also that you can support with.

My cousin traveled the world and made money by working in bars, and restaurants, as a translator, a tutor, and even did cleaning work. Staying in youth hostels helps to save money. If you're a vlogger, start a Youtube channel and document your travels. I wish you the best of luck and be safe!

Yes, if you speak good English there are plenty of opportunities to teach it in Asia and elsewhere. The pay is not great in my experience, but when you're young the travel adventure is its own reward!

Flight attendants and pilots naturally get around quite a bit!

If you get into research that involves various locations, for example geology, weather, plant and animal sciences, that would involve travel, but that's a long way to go to achieve your goal!

Manufacturing is often done abroad, so if you work in supply chain or factory machinery, that would probably involve travel.

If you want to travel cheaply while seeing some really unique places, I'd definitely recommend looking into volunteering and culture exchange programs like Workaway (https://www.workaway.info/) and WWOOF (https://wwoof.com.au). You can visit their websites to search through all of the opportunities available across different countries and see if anything appeals to you. They're particularly great if you enjoy working outdoors or want to learn new skills.

Although you don't get paid in these programs, you typically volunteer in exchange for food and accommodation. When you're not volunteering, you have free time to explore the local areas or work casual jobs to earn some extra income. I used these programs to travel through Canada and made extra money along the way by picking up a few odd jobs, including painting houses and delivering furniture!

If you enjoy writing, you could also start a travel blog to document your adventures. You don't need any technical skills to setup a blog - there's lots of free templates to help you get started on tools like Wordpress or HubSpot. And once you've got your blog going, you can actually monetize your content by doing simple things like having ads on your site or writing sponsored posts. The blogs also work as a great travel journey and can help others travelling to the same areas with tips and recommendations.
