What are the most important thing when building a resume?
What are the main and most important things in a resume when aplaing for any job category that falls under business employment. And what what are the main and most important things in a resume when aplaing for any job category that falls under Game designing.

Make sure your resume conveys your best points in 10 seconds of reading - that is how long most recruiters spend on a resume when they are swamp with candidates. Make sure your resume is compatible with ATS systems and won't get garbled by ATS as this may mean that your application will be rejected automatically (I learned the hard way). Also that you have relevant keywords.

Also, and this is something that is pretty important - make the resume easy to read. Have visual hierarchy and add color to define sections. So it is easily scanned. Have people in the industry give you feedback on it too.

hi Issarlyn, few thoughts below.
On the receiving end, people often need to go through a lot of resumes and many companies also use electronic platforms that do initial vetting (based on algorithms) on resumes submitted. Categorized my thoughts in two sections below.
Accommodating initial vetting done by electronic platforms:
1) Avoid using very creative and different looking resume templates. These get challenging for electronic platforms to interpret accurately. Consider using traditional resume templates.
2) Depending upon the job you are applying, consider including keywords used in the job posting within your resume. This applies to functional lingo and also behavioral skills.
Suggestions for improving your resume for a human reader:
1) Have a concise statement at the top about what you want to do or how you want the reader to remember you - the one thing you want to be remembered
2) For each bullet point on your resume, try to stay within one or two lines. Try keeping sentences formatted similarly and if possible start with the "results" and then switch to "how?". For example: "Improved digital traffic by XY% through the use of social media ads and search engine optimization"
3) Where possible use numbers within your sentences as proof points.
4) Try limiting yourself to one page only, and use some white space between different sections of your resume (e.g. education, experience, extracurricular). White space or breaks help the reader to focus on each section easier (at least for me).
5) If applicable, share the portfolio of your work that is publicly available.

It looks like you've gotten some great advice above already. I just wanted to add that there are some great examples out there to look at if you google "resume template for students" or you can narrow it down by college or high school student resumes. You want it to be clean with no grammatical errors. Your name and contact info at the top. Your education. Work experience. Volunteer experience and so on. As mentioned above, it shouldn't be more than one page. Definitely look at some of the templates to get ideas.

In a basic resume, you need to have:
1. Your name and contact information ( address, email and phone number).
2. A small paragraph of your total experiences, and what you are great at. (Optional)
3. Your education background/ degree: schools attended and graduation dates.
4. Job experiences with the business name, how long you where at the job and list 2 - 3 things of the job responsibilities.
5. Other skills, if you speak other languages.
You can also search online for some template to help you.
