How can I prepare for a nursing degree as an incoming college student?

I attend Bourne High School as a 12th grade student. I am interested in pediatric nursing and hope to receive my RN in college. One of my strong qualities is empathy and I care deeply for people around me. This includes friends, family, and members in the community.

Agree with above, also start a LinkedIn profile put all job experience, volunteer, and certifications. Connect as much as you can there and sometimes people will reach out to you there for jobs. Getting into a pediatric nurse residency is really competitive so I do recommended become a nursing assistant (cna) that way when you graduate from nursing school you will stand out from other applicants.

A great way to prepare is to Volunteer at a hospital. Sign up for their junior volunteer program if they have one. Then Volunteer on Pediatrics, get to know the nurses. You will learn a lot and also see what the job will be like someday. You are also networking this way, which will help you to get a job when you finish your Nursing program. You can also take a nursing assistant certificate classes If you need a job while going to school. The more you are around the medical field the more comfortable you will be when you become an RN.
