I would definitely say the college you should go to is the one that offers what you are looking for. Also, it is important to consider the finances, environment, program of focus and culture. You can start by researching on things you are looking for first then create a list of pros and cons and see which would be your best option. Also, remember you have to apply first, get accepted and consider your options. I believe you will make the best decision for you.

Will’s Answer

Hey Sapphira,

Welcome to Career Village!

There are quite a few great accounting undergrad programs across the country. Here's the top ranked by usnews (there could be different ranking systems): https://www.usnews.com/best-colleges/rankings/business-accounting.

However, a few other factors to decide which are actually good for you, like networking opportunity (alumni connections),
location (whether it's an area offers job opportunities), and cost (scholarship, on-campus jobs).

Good luck!

I can tell you two colleges in mind based on my friends experience if you are interested in California:

California State University, Los Angeles (CSULA) - Accounting is a popular option in the Business department. Usually, Accounting students get recommended to dual major in Computer Information Systems, which is helpful to add in tech experience to your job applications.

University of Southern California (USC) - Some of my friends that graduate at CSULA would go to USC for their masters as they have a good program there. Undergrad is also recommended there as there is active Big 4 recruitment there so you could land to Big 4 there if you find the right people or if they are on a booth somewhere.

Mack’s Answer

Hello Sapphira,

Good luck in your search for an accounting school. Others have made some good suggestions so I will point out some possibilities in our area -- that is, near Rock Hill.

First school to think about is Winthrop University which has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an Accounting option:

For a relatively small, state college, Winthrop's Business School is well-regarded.

Another consideration would be the University of South Carolina, particularly if you are interested in International Business since USC has been rated #1 in that area.

South Carolina state schools usually have lower tuition costs than private or state schools that are out-of-state, so Clemson may be a good consideration:

They rank well in the US News and World report for colleges in the Rock Hill area.

Other possibilities would include UNC-Chapel Hill, Wake Forest, and Emory.

You might consider some of these as well as others in the US News and World Report list.
