What does the daily life of a dermatologist look like?

It is fun. They communicate and help patients on their medications. They also diagnose the patients and discuss on the conditions.

While I'm not a dermatologist, I am an internist (a doctor who takes care of adults as a pediatrician takes care of children) and have interacted with dermatologists fairly regularly. Theirs is an office-based practice, meaning you do not need to go to a hospital and there are very few emergencies allowing for a pretty regular schedule, not having to work nights or weekends. These days, you can eventually become an advanced practice nurse (getting your RN followed by additional training) and then work as a nurse practitioner in a dermatologist's office and in some states you might be able to practice on your own (I am not sure about this and the laws will undoubtedly change by the time you get to that stage). The path to becoming a physician requires getting a college degree and then applying to medical school (4 years of school) which can be difficult to gain admission to followed by 4 years of post-medical school training so it is a long and difficult process but in my opinion, certainly worthwhile. Following the advanced practice nursing degree may be somewhat of an easier path but I do not have a lot of knowledge in that area. As I often say though you are still young so try to explore many different avenues to see where your true interests and joys lie although seem to have a pretty good idea if you've already applied for an LPN program.
