Hey there, Jovana!

I'm thrilled to share with you some insider tips from IBM, whether you're a first-time job seeker or have some experience under your belt. These pointers come straight from our recruiters to help simplify your journey.

- Start by exploring the IBM careers page. It's your go-to place for job hunting in any company. Use keywords to widen your search and discover more opportunities.
- Get to know our teams. The "Teams" section on our careers site is a treasure trove of information about what each team does, success stories from our IBMers, and open positions that match your skills.
- Diversify your sources. Don't just take our word for it. Check out IBM's profile on LinkedIn, Glassdoor, and even Instagram to hear what our IBMers have to say. Comparing different perspectives gives you a well-rounded view of the company. (This is a great tip for any job hunt!)
- Craft a stellar resume. There are countless tips out there on how to write the perfect resume, but in a nutshell: keep it short and sweet, be honest, and tailor your resume to the job description using relevant keywords.
- Don't just apply for a job, join our talent network too. IBM sends job alerts to those in our database who fit the desired profile, increasing your chances of landing a position.
- Network with IBMers in your country. Ask them for their “Referrals” link which you can use for positions that pique your interest.
- Keep your LinkedIn profile updated. Even if you've applied for our positions, our recruiters will still check your LinkedIn. Stay active, network effectively, and check your emails regularly.
- Prepare to make an impact. Organize your thoughts to present three to five of your key selling points effectively.
- Be curious. Whether it's via email, inmail, or face-to-face, don't hesitate to ask questions and clear any doubts. Use this opportunity to learn about our programs, benefits, culture, and make your mark.

Just be yourself.

I hope these tips will guide you in your preparation. If you have more questions, feel free to reach out on social media. I'm confident you'll find the help and support you need.

Best of luck!

Hi Joanna,

The requirements for a technology internship can vary depending on the company and the specific role, but check the common requirements below:

1- Most internships prefer candidates with an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, computer information systems, business, or computer networking. However, some companies may also consider high school graduates.
2- An interest or passion for technology is often a key requirement. This could be demonstrated through your coursework, projects, or extracurricular activities.
3- Relevant Skills, Understanding of applicable programming languages, high attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate in a team environment are often sought after.
4- Continuous Learning, the tech world is dynamic, so a willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies is crucial to be demonstrated if you got an interview.
5- Problem-Solving Skills, many tech roles involve finding solutions to problems, so strong problem-solving skills can be beneficial, so take some challenges related to tech and see how you will be able to solve it which can support you later when you get an interview for example.

Hi Jovanna! Depending on the company, role, or industry, the requirements for a technology internship can vary. Speaking from personal experience with Big 4 recruiting, I can say that the very baseline requirements are that you are pursuing a undergraduate/graduate degree and have a cumulative GPA of 3.0. The preferred fields of study are usually information systems, computer science, information technology, business analytics, data science, and engineering (the role will most likely require some sort of technical background so having a technical skillset or major is beneficial and often necessary).

A technology internship at one company could be working with clients to implement a specific system or product (this is more like technology consulting). A technology internship at another company could be doing data analytics or software engineering. Make sure to do your due diligence and reach out to professionals in the role you're applying for to learn more about what exactly they do day to day! Best of luck!
