How do I get involved in sports management in high school?

I want to work in the NFL someday.

Individuals, who I observed went into sports management from high school, were not necessarily athletes on a specific team. They were the people behind the scenes of the teams.

They were the ones assisting the head and assistant coaches in caring and helping the athletes. They were helping in athletic training, taping the ankles, getting uniforms ready, and were the team managers on the benches and sidelines.

This enabled them to develop the skills needed later in sports management activities.

Charlie Weis, who later coached at Notre Dame, is a good example of this. He never played sports like football, but developed the management skills needed, by participating in related activities, which helped him become a great administrator and coach.

Hi - Do you have an amateur sports team where you live? If so, I would suggest reaching out to their public relations contact to see if they would allow you to set-up an internship or shadow some of the management staff for the team. Being in that environment in any capacity to observe would be a great way to learn more and build relationships.
