Hassan’s Answer

Berkley is very competitive and only accepts ~11% of applicants https://www.usnews.com/best-colleges/university-of-california-berkeley-https://www.usnews.com/best-colleges/university-of-california-berkeley-1312/applying#

Only UCLA is harder to get into @ 8.8% of applicants for public schools. CalTech and Stanford are the toughest.

Michael’s Answer

It's competitive. But let me take a different angle to your question - Why does the competitive nature of the admission process matter? Oh sure you don't want to waste your application fee but you have zero percent chance if you do not apply. If you want to go to that school - your personal statement will be weighed heavily. The U.S. Supreme Court ended the 25 years of affirmative actions but schools still can take a holistic approach to their admissions process that looks at the individual (not just the group). So, that said - give it a try. You do not want to regret not even applying later in life. Apply. Give it your best shot. And feel good about believing in yourself and that you applied.
