What can I do to make me successful in my grade ?

I am a freshman in high school. What do I have to do to get a good degree at a college/university of my choice? What classes will I have to take if I want to get a degree in, for example, meteorology?

Hey there, young man! It seems like you've got a couple of things on your mind. I'm inclined to agree with the previous response that grades aren't everything. Of course, passing is crucial. Now, when it comes to your career, that's a hefty decision. If you're drawn towards meteorology, it's essential to immerse yourself in all the sciences and mathematics, and strive to excel in them.

However, as you embark on your college journey, I'd suggest exploring a variety of classes. This will help you discover what truly ignites your passion, something that you can commit to for the next 40 years or more. Remember, this choice is entirely yours. Don't simply follow in the footsteps of a family member or friend, especially if it's a path that might not bring you joy in the long run. Instead, ponder about your future and the prospects of your chosen field.

You're at the start of a long journey, so make your choices wisely. A useful tip I've always followed is to 'sleep on it'. Einstein referred to this as 'lucid dreaming'. Many great minds have harnessed this ability, and you can too! It's not exclusive to geniuses. I like to think of it as tapping into the subconscious mind, also known as the Akashic record.

Best of luck with your future! Remember, it's yours to shape and mold.

Hi!

I really want to just say that grades do not define you. You can have an incredible experience in a class and still get a not-so-great grade. You are not your grade. However, if you do want to increase your grade before the end of the year, here are a few things you can do.

Take your final- this seems like a no brainer, but I've heard that some high schools no longer require finals? Take the final. It will most likely help more than it will hurt- just study and remember the big picture ideas and some key details in each topic covered.

Ask your teacher if there's opportunities for extra credit. Many times, teachers will give an extra worksheet or will ask you to look over and revise a low grade exam or something. Take those opportunities. The teacher wants you to succeed- you just need to ask for help.

Hello! It's fantastic that you're already paving the way towards your desired future. My advice would be to take any Advanced Placement (AP) courses your school provides, as long as you can maintain good performance without wearing yourself out. Otherwise, opt for high-level STEM classes where you can truly excel! Remember, many colleges consider the range of classes your school offers when comparing you to other applicants, so strive to take the most challenging ones available.

But remember, it's not just about classes - involvement in relevant clubs is key! Explore groups within your school and local community, and participate in a diverse array of activities. Educational institutions value well-rounded students, which means you should focus on more than just academics. This could involve joining interest clubs, volunteering, participating in sports teams, or undertaking internships. Moreover, strive to distinguish yourself by assuming leadership roles! Best of luck!

Lucy recommends the following next steps:

Take AP or Honors Courses
Consider joining clubs at school
Take a more active role in your community
