Hey Emma!

Imagine a job where you’re a doctor, a detective, and a professional belly-rubber all at once. That’s being a vet! One minute, you’re saving a dog who definitely ate something he shouldn’t have, and the next, you’re negotiating with a cat who’s plotting your downfall. It’s messy, hilarious, and totally worth it!
So , in Canada, a veterinarian makes about $70,000 to $130,000 per year, or $5,800 to $10,800 per month before taxes. But after the government takes its share (because even vets can’t escape taxes), they take home about $4,000 to $7,500 per month depending on where they live. So, enough for a comfortable life… but maybe not enough to buy a pet tiger (which is probably illegal anyway).
New vets start at the lower end, but with experience, they earn more—especially if they work with big farm animals (because convincing a stubborn cow to take medicine deserves extra pay).

If you love animals, don’t mind long years of study, and are okay with the occasional dog sneezing in your face, being a vet is a great choice! Just remember—saving animals is a reward all on its own… even if they sometimes have challenges you will learn to tackle them and love the fun times. Hope it was helpful all the best buddy!

Thank you comment icon You're very welcome, Emma! If my comments made you smile, then my job here is done—like a magician, but with words instead of rabbits. If not, well... I’ll just awkwardly moonwalk out of here and try again next time! 😉 I am always here for anything you need! 😅 Dr H

Hi, Emma. I think it’s pretty cool that you are thinking about your future and career goals.

I am not a veterinarian, I am medical student training to be a doctor. But I found some information that might help answer your question.

The average veterinarian makes about $10,000 per month in Canada. That can be higher or lower, depending on what city you live/work in, work experience, and what you specialize in.

Also, if you are interested in learning more about veterinarians and the field, here are a couple of Websites that may be helpful.

Also, it may be a good idea to contact or visit veterinary clinics in your town.

I hope this helps. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have.

Make it a great day,
Karl

Bright’s Answer

Hey there, I think I have a fair idea.
Veterinarians usually earn between $3,000 and $7,000 per month, depending on where they work, their experience, and the type of animals they treat. Some vets earn more if they have their practice or specialize in certain areas. The amount can vary a lot based on location and job responsibilities!

This all depends on where you are located, demographic, if you are GP vs ER, or in a specialty field

Drithi’s Answer

Hey Emma!

Veterinarians in Canada typically earn between $5,000 to $10,000 per month, depending on experience, location, and specialization. New vets may start around $5,000 to $7,000, while experienced ones can earn $10,000 or more per month. Veternary surgeons can earn even higher. It also depends on if you work for a hospital or have your own private practice. Vets make more money as they go futher into their specialization. I hope this helps :)
