Benjamin, I want you to know that you don’t necessarily have to go to a university to play baseball in the Majors, but it can definitely help. I knew a couple of High School players that were getting noticed by minor league teams, but a lot of players get noticed while playing college baseball because the competition is high, and it’s a chance to keep improving your skills. I think that most scouts often watch college games, so it can be a good way to get seen by the right people. However, like I said before some players get drafted right out of high school or even join the MLB from other leagues or countries. The important thing is to keep working hard, stay dedicated, and keep getting better every day. No matter which path you decide to take, the key is your passion, effort, and the ability to push through challenges. Stay focused on improving your game.

Hey Benjamin!
No, you don’t need to go to university to become an MLB player, but it can help!
1. High School to MLB Draft:
If you’re really good, MLB scouts might draft you straight from high school.
2. College to MLB Draft:
Some players go to college to improve their skills, then enter the draft.
Tip: Work hard, play your best, and get noticed—that’s how you make it to the MLB.
Keep chasing your baseball dreams! ⚾

Hi, Benjamin - good for you for looking ahead.
Circumstances may change by the time you enter high school but currently around 58% of MLB players have played in college at some point. The others have been recruited directly from high school.
I could understand your wanting to maximize your time as a professional athlete since some start to retire in their 30's. On the other hand, college athletes often benefit from rigorous training, competitive games, and personal development resources not only for their sport but for their overall wellness. Plus, a college degree offers a safety net should a professional athletic career not pan out.
I hope this helps - good luck!
