I work 30-36 hours per week! Patient hours are different than working hours when you consider note writing, case prep, specialist communications, etc. It all depends. I am lucky to have a day off in the middle of the week on Wednesdays, and I work alternating Saturdays as a half day.

I work 4 days a week, 8-5. But I get to work at 7:45 and leave around 5:30. So around 35 hours for 4 days a week. If you own a practice, it ends up being more because you need to do administrative work outside of clinical time.

Yo, Emma thats a standing question. 👀 I mean, so, you’re curious about dentist life and how much time they spend keeping those pearly whites shiny.
Alrigtt so most dentists work around 30 to 40 hours a week, which is like a regular work schedule—but here’s the cool part: many of them get to choose their hours. Some work only 4 days a week, giving them extra time to chill, binge shows, or, I don’t know, become flossing champions.
If they own their own dental office (fancy word: practice), they might work extra hours to manage the business side of things. But if they’re just focusing on teeth, they usually stick to those 30-40 hours. And hey, no late-night emergencies like doctors—teeth usually behave after bedtime.
Remember, Dentists get decent vacation time! So, while your friends are stressing over homework, you could be living your best life as a dentist, taking cool vacations and still having time to save the world—one smile at a time.
What’s got you curious—are you thinking of becoming a dentist, or are you just wondering how much free time they have for fun stuff! 😏🤪 If you are know that as long you have dedication and passion you will get it no matter the obstacles and you will enjoy spending time working at that field of you favorite too! 😉🤗 Good luck Emma!
