Frances’s Answer

I'm not a firefighter, but my neighbor is. He joined to serve in the military for about four years. After finishing his service, he took the civil service exam and got extra points for his military background. Being a firefighter is tough, but it's also really rewarding. Good luck!

William’s Answer

A professional firefighter should be:
- Physically and mentally fit and certified by a qualified physician as medically fit as it requires agility, balance, muscular strength, cardiovascular endurance and other physical fitness qualifications.
- A physically disabled might not be s good fit for firefighting as impairment of hands, legs, sight, hearing, speech, brain and other organs and body parts are possible obstacles that could hinder firefighters from performing.
- Firefighters should be professionally trained, re-trained and continuously trained for specific tasks they are to handle, like - firefighting and rescue vehicle, fire hose, fire hydrants, fire monitor, fire extinguisher, firefighting, and firefighting aircraft and drone operators, including fire axes, fire escape ladders, fire drill and fire emergency rescue services.
Fire emergency responders are well trained in emergency and evacuation aspects, like operating of emergency communication systems, emergency power, lighting and smoke control services of each house or facility.
Professional firefighters also know how to operate fire detection and alarm, fire protection or suppression services. They have good knowledge of fire safety requirements like use of PPE, signage and notices and other administrative controls in managing fire emergencies.
