Hello, Danny !

Yes, if entering college with no major in mind and it's required to enter as a declared major, Business is indeed a good major to pick. You can always switch to something else by your Junior year. If you don't have to declare a Major upon admissions, you can be undeclared. Check the guidelines for this with the college. You may be able to be undeclared for a while and start out taking the general education requirements until you decide upon a major.

Business is a good foundation because it will sharpen your communication skills, provide great knowledge as to how businesses are run and managed which helps in any job you obtain, and can be important information for if you ever want to start your own business later on.

Another possible major, if your college requires you to pick a major, is Computer Science. This goes without saying because every single company today uses a computer system. It's just one of those fields of work that has a lot of options and is always growing and expanding. It's something that you probably use every day in one way or another, so it could be beneficial both personally and professionally.

So call the college you'll be attending and ask if undeclared major is allowed at their college. If they say you can be undeclared, then take your General Education required courses for a couple of semesters. One of those courses may inspire you as to what you may like to major in. Really, choose a career interest first then the major. So spend some time exploring careers right now so you can eventually connect a major to a career.

I hope this helps and I wish you all the best !

If you're unsure about your major, picking business is a great place to start. It's versatile and helps you learn important skills like talking to others, solving problems, and working well in teams, which are helpful in lots of careers. You can always switch your major later if you want. The key is to discover what you love and what you're good at.
Thank you comment icon Thank you, not for just an answer but also for a reason. Taking business was a suggestion from an adult but with no real reason behind it. Danny
