What kind of questions are on the LPC (to become a licensed therapist) and how can I better prepare myself as a current college student for this exam?
I am about to start my bachelors in the Fall. I understand that I have a long way to go before needing to take the exam, but I want to get a better understanding and work on preparing myself over the years. Being a therapist is all I have ever wanted.

https://nbcc.org/exams/examprep has all the details on the exams and links to prep tools and materials.
There are independent orgs like https://therapistdevelopmentcenter.com, https://counselingexam.com/, https://catalog.pesi.com/item/national-counselor-examination-nce-prep-course-149894 that offer prep courses and materials as well.
Also, check with your College Counselors to see what prep materials and/or courses they offer since those maybe free.

Hi Charolette,
I havent taken the exam yet, but I wanted to chime in. I am an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist and Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (in addition to my job here at CareerVillage). I am in the process of acquiring my hours before I can take the licensing exam.
To answer your question, I will say that the prep required depends on your state. The challenge with this is that requirements change when laws change. As a result, it's likely that there will be several changes between now and when it's time for you to prepare to take your exam but you can join professional associations as a student to remain in step with any updates, build your network, and it will help you to begin to develop an understanding of your therapy niche. I also recommend following the BBS on instagram. I know it sounds weird but they provide routine updates there too. There will be more information to come the closer you get.
Hope this helps
