I am a Freshmen in college, studying Music Industry. What tips can you give to someone who wants to be in music, but is also scared of performing?

Hey Tucker, it's great to get super comfy with your music. Try practicing your piece again and again until you can play or sing it just right. The more confident you are, the less nervous you'll be when it's time to perform.

Catherine’s Answer

My advice is to understand the physiology of a stress/anxiety response. Understanding what your body physically does in those moments helps you gain control over it (increased blood pressure, release of adrenaline/norepinephrine, etc.). There are also many resources on how to engage your parasympathetic nervous system and actually calm down your body. If you can master physical control, you're one step closer to mental control.
