Shay’s Answer

What are some of your passions? It would be useful to look at ways that your passions could align with your overall career goals or finding ways your career can support your passions.

Shay recommends the following next steps:

Do broad research into different career paths to see what really resonates.
Network informally. Start having casual conversations with people in different professional fields.
Think about what skills you’re developing through both your studies and hobbies.
Look for opportunities to gain practical experience.
Take a preliminary look at your current financial habits and future aspirations to get a general idea of how you may want to manage your money in the long-term.

Citi’s Answer

Early in career, I would recommend choosing a career that provides the most exposure to senior leaders, which will strengthen your ability to expand your network, and the ability to gain the most skills. You’ll find that earlier in your career, leaders are willing to take more time to invest in your development. Now is the time to focus on foundational skills while keeping an eye on your passions and figuring out ways to incorporate your passions into perhaps an alternative revenue stream.

Citi’s Answer

Career choices are hard, regardless of age or stage of life! I personally think you need a combination of passion and stability. Find something that’s stable to help fulfill personal goals and aspirations but in any role, determine what excites you! It could be learning new things, being in fast paced environments, making an impact by solving complex problems, cross collaborating across diverse teams, the list can go on!
