Hi Tedrick
If you’re interested in Manga, I would suggest checking out Web Novel - either the website or you can download the app – you can sign up for free and they have a whole comic section you can check out. Any author can upload their own comics and novels by chapters – then readers usually pay to download the newly uploaded work – but there’s lots of comics and books on there that are older and free to read/download. It will show you how popular each one is and how many chapters and how downloads each one has. And once your own manga book or comic is ready, you could also upload on there and start earning money from downloads.
Other sites you should check out where you can look at manga previews include Manga Plus and VIZ Manga.

Start now by joining your school newspaper and taking an art class. If your school doesn't offer either, talk to a teacher about starting a club for writers and artists.

Thank you for your question. I am glad to know you have interest in writing and drawing.
Below are my suggestions :
1. There are plenty of careers related to writing and drawing, e.g. media content creator, journalist, advertisement copy writer, graphic designer, author, fashion designer, web page designer, etc. You can find out more related careers online
2. Find out more on these careers and determine what you have interest
3. Speak to someone who are working in these careers. Seek guidance from your mentor, school career counsellor, your parents, etc.
4. Shortlist 1-2 careers you would like to pursue
5. Explore the entry criteria of relevant subjects in colleges
Hope this helps! Good Luck!
May Almighty God bless you!

Your best bet is to be a freelance artist. You can make an account on red bubble, and sell your drawings. Or look up different places for freelance artist who draw to sell their artwork. Also another good option is fiverr, upwork, and freelancer... I believe you can be under 18 and create an account on these platforms. Anyway, become a freelance writer and artist by looking for places that help you with selling your work.

As has been mentioned, you can start out small and create your own indie work for now, then scale up as you continue working on your projects. I recommend looking up and studying from other indie manga artists to get started. You can find some though sites like YouTube or Instagram.

Hi Tedrick,
You can start self-publishing now. There are so many free digital print-on-demand tools out there for independent artists, like Blurb and Lulu. Or you could publish digital comics. I'd suggest finding an online community of manga fans if you haven't already, and see what's out there and how other independent creators are making and promoting their work. I have friends who work independent publishing expos, zine fests, fan events, and comic cons. Most aren't making much money, but it's more about getting exposure for your work, networking, and learning about your field.
Once you get some experience, you may get a better sense of a career path. I'm not a creative writer but I earn my living as a writer, editor, and designer, and that gives me the freedom to pursue my sculpture and drawing practices without panicking about art sales.
Hope this helps!

Hi Tedrick!
I second the idea to look into joining your school's newspaper! This is a great place to work on your storytelling skills, create comic strips or series and do it all with room to be creative and try new things. It will also give you lots of opportunities to create content for a portfolio and help you learn to run your own website on the digital side.
Another option would be to reach out to your local city's smaller newspaper as well. They are often full of recent college grads as well as tenured professionals and love to help the next generation of writers, artists and journalists along. You pay be able to submit content for publishing, or possibly get some mentoring from their creative director/editor if they have experience in the space! This would also help you grow your professional network which is always a bonus!
Wishing you the best of luck!
